Making my track list

When deciding what songs to put on my album I looked at the lyrics of the song and picked out key words that I felt represented my genre, I did this because then the songs are all portraying the same message and shows the album of as a whole, it keeps continuity and makes the products look more professional.

Below is an example of Beyonce's track list, the names of the songs represent what her album is trying to dhow as a whole, for example the words 'love' and 'heaven' are used which are often stereotyped as girly and connote happiness and peace, which as a female role model to young girls is what she tries to do.

However in the picture to the left you can see Bring Me the Horizon's track list, even though this is a different genre is a complete different track list meaning, there is such negativity and fear used, for example words such as 'drown' and 'doomed' are used which all have negative connotations, even though both album covers are dark they both have completely different meanings of lyrics.

Therefore when making my track list I want to select songs that have a clear connection to my song and message and that look like they fit rather than stand out and look unrealistic.

This is part of my lyric analysis in which I picked out certain words to try and analyse the meaning of the song to generate ideas for my video. I selected words such as vigorous and angry, I also selected words such as Ignite, I believe these are all powerful and dominating words which connote my narrative of having dominance battling in your head about negative an positive thoughts. So these will be 2 songs I choose to include in my track list.

I then also went on to Google and found a website where you can select a theme and a list of words to do with that theme come up, these gave me some more ideas for what songs to include in my video, I selected the theme 'Halloween' as I felt this is what would generate words appropriate for my video.

The video itself is quite abnormal and spooky and after receiving audience feedback a lot of people have said how they would expect to see horror and dominance in the video just by knowing the name of the song. Some words I selected from the list was 'devilish' 'haunted' 'fearful night' and 'devil in my eyes' these all are good songs which would be expected to appear on an album of my genre, I feel they are appropriate and would make the product seem realistic.

The final track list is as follows:

1. Vigorous and angry
2. Ignite me
3. Devilish
4. Haunted
5. Fearful night
6. Devil in my eyes
7. Double vision
8. Blood n tears

I chose to only have a short track list as I felt that this was conventional of the genre after carrying out research in to existing track lists. I feel that 8 songs is a reasonably expected amount and isn't too over crowded.
