Making my own website

I chose to make my own website as extra work, I did this as current artists/bands in the music industry have these as a way of promoting themselves as an artist and promoting the music. I used a website called Wix Website creator, this was free to use and allowed me to alter the website to have I wanted it, however you wasn't able to change things such as the link to Itunes for the album it was already pre set and due to my artist not actually releasing an album I had to improvise and use an existing one to show how the website would actually function.

The first thing I did was choose what type of website I wanted, I did this by selecting music, this therefore has different layouts available for different genres.
It therefore suits the needs for the purpose of my website and gives valuable help for the need and it is more realistic.

The next thing I did was choose a background, I chose a fairly dark one as this connotes ideas of fear and deep moods which is what my genre represents. I then added in my bands name and changed the font size and colour to make it stand out and make it bold and clear for the audience to see who the website is promoting.

I also added a YouTube link of my final music video which I completed as part of the brief. I did this so that my audience are able to watch a video that relates to the artist and is a promotional stunt to give them exclusive previews of up coming songs. I also then chose a pre set video from the website which looked abstract and different and looked like something which followed the conventions of my genre.

I also added in a 'contact us' page this allows the audience to become closer with the band and ask them any questions they feel would be important or what they want to know.

I also included information about the upcoming album, I included the album poster I created as part of my brief, this links all the products together again and follows continuity. This gives the information about the album and where they can buy it, it also promotes the album even wider.

I also included an article about how the audience can get more involved and be up for a chance to win tickets, this is often used as a way of intriguing the audience in to the product and gives them a chance to become hands on, it gets more views to the web page and widens the target audience.

The finished product can be found here:
